Open Source Computing

A New Era in Computing Technology

-- Mark Shuttleworth (Canonical)

The result is a wealth of high-quality, free software, designed to maximise productivity and enjoyment on any computer.

Open Source Computing captures the spirit of this participation revolution that is currently sweeping the technology world.

The main impediment to widespread adoption of free software is just plain lack of knowledge. If you don't know about it, you cannot take advantage of it. That's where HBCLUG comes in.

The Hibiscus Coast GNU/Linux Users Group aims to rectify this problem by offering an orientation course at Orewa College through the Adult Community Education programme. The course occupies four, two hour, sessions on thursday evenings.

-- Steve Ballmer (Microsoft Corp.)

To kick it off, there is a free seminar covering the core ideas of free software, how it can benefit you, and why you should care.

You are invited to attend.
Please RSVP by booking. (See Sidebar)

I look forward to seeing you there;

Simon Bridge
