hbclinux.net.nz exists to help support people who want to support GNU/Linux and F/OSS on the Hibiscus Coast. Currently, this page points to other pages in the same domain and little else (right.) At some point I'll add a mailing list and, perhaps a forum - depends how the site grows. Meanwhile HBCLUG is community support and HBCLinux (without the dot-net) itself offers commercial support for home and small business installations. Check them out.
Please watch the HBCLUG website for updates.
With an impending, costly, migration looming, it only makes good business sence to consider the competition. In this case, GNU/Linux represents a low-cost, high quality, competitor to the, already legacy, Windows Vista. The only serious impediment is just learning a new way of doing things. But you'll have to do that anyway.
The HBCLUG course is designed to empower you to take charge of that "dread machine" and take it where you want to go.
The skillbase is entirely platform independant, so is applicable regardless of if you continue with GNU/Linux.
You do not need to install any special software - the course can be run completely without affecting your existing investment.
You do not even need a computer - HBCLUG can supply a limited number (4) of machines on loan or rental for the duration of the course. However, demand for these machines proved strong: to avoid having to double-up, please bring your own.
It's fun. C'mon, check it out.

Through partnership programs, we hope to be able to offer international certification as well.
The course is expected to suit pensioners, students, and beneficiaries. People on a low income. People who are tired of being pushed around by the big corporation and want to push back for a while.
